Screening of Superman episodes: the 1948 serial (Thurs. September 12 at 6:30 p.m.)

kirk_alyn_collageThe Friends of the Library present Superman! We are holding three events to celebrate the 75 years that Superman has been flying the skies in DC comics, in movie serials, on television, and in full-length films.

On September 12th at 6:30 pm in the Simoni Room, join us for a screening of four to six episodes of the 1948 serial classic, “Superman.” This 15-part black-and-white Columbia film serial was based on the Superman comic book character and stars Kirk Alyn as Superman and Noel Neill as Lois Lane.

On September 26th at 6:30 pm in the Simoni Room, we will hold a screening of the 1978 “Superman” film with Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent. This was the first of four Superman movies made over the next decade that starred Reeve.

On October 3rd at 7:30 pm, come to a talk with Larry Tye, the author of “Superman: The High-Flying History of America’s Most Enduring Hero.” Sign up for any or all of these events by calling the library (781-769-0200, x110 or 222) or stop by the Reference or Information desk.
