Fiction 2 Film Series: Proof

Monday, December 3rd from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

The five-part Fiction 2 Film Series continues with David Auburn’s play Proof.

Please register for each of the films in this series at either the Reference or Information Desk or call 781-769-0200, x110 or 222. A brief discussion will begin or follow the screening of the film. Your viewing will be enhanced by reading the fiction before we see the movie.
Please call the library if you need help reserving a copy of the book from the Minuteman Library Network catalog. We are grateful to the Friends of the Library for funding the movie license that allows us to show these films in the library. Complimentary popcorn is provided by Regal Cinema, Bellingham.

Together Yes presents documentary “Dive!”

Wednesday, November 14 at 7 p.m                                                    The organization Together Yes will present the documentary “Dive!: Living Off America’s Waste,” which won a total of 21 awards at film festivals worldwide.  Based on an ordinary family’s experiment in dumpster diving at restaurants and grocery stores, this movie examines the problem of food waste in the U.S. and suggests possible solutions.  Sign up at the Reference or Information Desk or call 781-769-0200, x110 or 222.

Fiction 2 Film series: Murder on the Orient Express

Monday, November 5, 2012  at 6:30 p.m.
Join us for the first evening in our Fiction 2 Film series, held the first Monday of the month through March, when we will watch the film Murder on the Orient Express followed by a brief discussion of Agatha Christie’s mystery of the same name.  The 1974 film’s all-star cast includes Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Richard Widmark and Jacqueline Bisset.   We suggest that you read the  book before we watch the movie.  The title selected for December 3 is David Auburn’s play “Proof.”  Please sign up for any or all of these “fiction and film” evenings, funded by the Friends of the Library,  at either the Reference or the Information Desk or call 781-769-0200, x110 or 222.

Fiction 2 Film Series 2012-2013

On the first Monday night of the months of November 2012 through March 2013, the library will present the film series, Fiction 2 Film at 6:30 in the Simoni Room.   Works of fiction are Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express; David Auburn’s play, Proof; Thornton Wilder’s novella, The Bridge of San Luis Rey; Oscar Wilde’s play, An Ideal Husband; and Rex Pickett’s Sideways Films of the same title will be shown. Download a brochure for more information and watch for more information on our website.  Please register for each film in the series.

A very brief discussion will precede or follow the screening of the film. Reading the play, novella or novel will enhance the film experience.
