Together Yes Film and Discussion: ‘Happy’

HappyWhy do happy people live better, longer, and with more care for others and the world? Why are some cultures happier than others? To explore these intriguing questions, come to the award-winning film “Happy” presented by the organization Together Yes. ‘Happy’ is the first of three screenings in their fall film series, followed by “Taking Root” on 11/13 and “Gasland: Can You Light Your Water on Fire?” on 12/11.

Fall Film Fest: Calendar Girls

Calendar GirlsOur Tuesday night fall film fest featuring British female screen legends continues on 10/22 with “Calendar Girls” starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, followed by “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith on 11/19. The series concludes with Vanessa Redgrave in “Unfinished Song” on 12/17. The Friends of the Library fund the movie license that allows us to show these films, and Regal Cinema in Bellingham donates the popcorn.

movie theaterOur Tuesday night fall film fest featuring British female film legends begins with this year’s award-winning “Quartet” starring Maggie Smith and directed by Dustin Hoffman.

Next up is “Calendar Girls” on 10/22 with Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, followed by “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith on 11/19. The series concludes on 12/17 with “Unfinished Song” starring Vanessa Redgrave. Each film will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the air-conditioned Simoni Room.  Popcorn will be served courtesy of the Bellingham Regal Cinemas. The Film Fests are made possible by a movie license funded by the Friends of the Library.
