We are very excited to announce that Tom Ryan and Atticus Finch will visit Norwood on March 26 at 7 pm at the Norwood Theatre to kick off our Community Reads program, NORWOOD READS “FOLLOWING ATTICUS.”
Please register for free tickets to this event ASAP by calling the library OR by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets will be held at the door of the Norwood Theatre after 6:15 pm on March 26 under the last name of the person reserving them. Please contact the library with any questions about reservations or tickets.
This event is geared toward adults and young adults. Out of consideration for Atticus and Will, we are requesting that you please leave your four-legged friends at home.
The Norwood Reads “Following Atticus” six-week program (a Community Reads program) is partially funded by a federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by
the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Tom and Atticus are able to visit the Norwood Theatre due to the generosity of owner Susan Lewis. We are also indebted to the Friends of the Morrill Memorial Library and the Morrill Memorial Library Gift Fund.
Please note that a brochure of events for children and adults will be posted soon.
Dog-trainer Hannalore Tice, owner of Boston for the Dogs, will bring in her dog Maya and talk about how to help a rescue dog become a family pet. She will also share some exciting “tails” of her experiences rescuing dogs from all over the country.

The Morrill Memorial Library is excited to announce a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The library’s $7500 federal IMLS/LSTA grant will be used for a One Book – One Community project during six weeks this spring – March 25 through May 7. The grant will help finance publicity materials, library equipment, programs and speakers, and the “Following Atticus” book in many formats.
Charlotte Canelli, Library Director is pleased to be able to offer a One Book-One Community project to the Norwood community. With a team of library staff, she has been working to develop a program that will include book discussion groups, an author visit, and various programs with speakers that focus on the adventures presented in the book “Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship” by Tom Ryan. Ryan, who lives in Jackson, New Hampshire, is scheduled to visit the Norwood community in late March.
Posters, flyers, Facebook and website updates will be posted as the program is developed this spring.
