Everyone needs a laugh now and then, right? Bill Bryson is the author for the job. In The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A Memoir, he strikes again. This time Bryson takes the reader back to the 1950’s in Des Moines, Iowa, and his quirky memories of an all-American childhood. All are welcome to join our discussion at the Senior Center on September 17th at 10 a.m.

Well, I didn’t say it was the REAL Rockefeller. On June 18th at 10 a.m., our book club will discuss the serial imposter, Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter , who spent years fooling society’s most elite, including many in the Boston area. How was he able to pull this off for so many years? And is it possible he could have pulled the wool over your own eyes as well? These are some of the many questions we will tackle at the Senior Center. Come join us.

Who doesn’t love a love story! The next book for our Senior Center read is Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson. As the book jacket describes, “The Major leads a quiet life valuing the proper things that Englishmen have lived by for generations: honor, duty, decorum, and a properly brewed cup of tea. But then his brother’s death sparks an unexpected friendship with Mrs. Jasmina Ali, the Pakistani shopkeeper from the village. Drawn together by their shared love of literature and the loss of their spouses, the Major and Mrs. Ali soon find their friendship blossoming into something more.”
Join us on May 21st at 10 a.m., the Norwood Senior Center.
