Library Receives a Gift of a Reading Room Chair

Blanche Buerig was a long-time resident of Nassau Gardens in Norwood where she was an avid reader and a frequent patron of the Morrill Memorial Library. She came to the United States from Poland at age 5 with her family and grew up in Brighton, eventually married and raised her two daughters. She took care of her elderly mother until her mother’s death at age 108.  Blanche enjoyed sewing, knitting, bowling, and most of all reading.

When Mrs. Buerig passed away this year, her family felt it only appropriate that a gift be given in her name to the Morrill Memorial Library.  Her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bob Gad purchased a chair in her honor.  That chair is affixed with a plaque in memory of Mrs. Buerig.

Karen Gad, her husband, Bob, and Mrs. Buerig’s nephew, Stephen Vail and his wife Linda, visited the library this summer to tour the Morrill Memorial Library and view the chair that is placed in the Cushing Reading Room of the library.
